Pamela Phatsimo Sunstrum, 1980
Pamela Phatismo Sunstrum (b. 1980, Mochudi, Botswana) is an African artist and designer whose multidisciplinary work encompasses drawing, installation, animation and performance. Having grown up in a multicultural family in various countries across Africa, Southeast Asia and the United States, Sunstrum’s work often focuses on the search for personal selfhood and the development of transnational identities in the context of imaginary worlds and alternate realities. She received a B.A. with highest honours in International Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1998 and an M.F.A. from the Mt. Royal School of Art at the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2007.
