Timothy Taylor is pleased to announce its return to West Bund Art & Design, marking the gallery’s eighth year at the leading fair in Shanghai. Representing the scope of visions and voices featured at the gallery today, the booth will showcase a group presentation of paintings, sculptures, and prints by international artists across its program, including Alicia Adamerovich, Daniel Crews-Chubb, Alex Katz, Jonathan Lasker, Sahara Longe, Eddie Martinez, Annie Morris, Hilary Pecis, Hayal Pozanti, Kiki Smith, Antoni Tàpies, and Honor Titus.
Highlights in the gallery’s presentation include a new work by Hilary Pecis, rendered with brilliant clarity and in her signature vibrant palette. Here, the artist embraces a heightened physicality through areas of strategic impasto. New paintings and works on paper by Eddie Martinez further explore texture and materiality. With propulsive precision, this body of work incorporates unexpected materials such as spray paint and debris. The reductive quality of these multimedia compositions engages with his earlier White Out series by tempering images of everyday objects with bands of “white out” paint. In a new painting, Hayal Pozanti similarly departs from traditional modes of creation. This work owes its atmospheric quality to the direct application of sumptuously hued oil sticks by fingertip. Suggesting an intimate connection between artist and canvas, this standout invites contemplation of Pozanti’s form and lyrical style. A testament to ongoing explorations of painterly surface, the booth blurs the lines between abstraction and figuration and gestures toward the power of process.
