The North Carolina Museum of Art has just acquired Jiab Prachakul's Girlfriends (2023) to its permanent collection.

Sunny skies are shown in this painting, exhibited in the artist's 2023 exhibition titled Rendezvous in Time. This presentation was Prachakul's first solo exhibition with the gallery, as well as her second solo exhibition ever and her first show in New York. Offering intimate scenes reconstructed from Prachakul's memory alongside those from her life in France, the canvases exhibited reflected the way identity is experienced just as they document the process of constructing oneself anew in an unfamiliar place.
